Fear Factory, a name that is well known all over the world today. What is Fear Factory really about? "The concept of this record is that man is obsolete. The idea is still man versus machine. Demanufacture told a story, Remanufacture was another chapter in the story and Obsolete is another part of the Fear Factory concept. We're up to the point in the story where man is obsolete. Man has created these machines to make his life easier but in the long run it made him obsolete. The machines he created are now destroying him. Man is not the primary citizen on Earth," says Burton. Fear Factory, a 4 person band, has a very unique sound. The mix of hardcore guitar riffs, dry lung vocals, pulse driving drum beats, and a kickin' bass. In 1997 they also brought more of the techno part into their music. They released a full length album re-mix of Demanufacture. The album, to many was thought to be a new kind of Fear Factory, but really it was meant to be an EP. However it turned out to be something much greater.

The bands throbbing groove keeps fans everywhere wondering what they will do next. The band has probably done just about everything there is to do. They have re-mixed an entire album. They have added new sounds as they matured over the years. They have also brought new elements into their records. That is one thing that makes them so different from other bands. The ability to manipulate what they have into something so different, but yet so the same.

One thing that hasn't changed over the years, is the ability to recognize a Fear Factory song. "One thing I could say about Fear Factory is that you can put on a Fear Factory song and know it's Fear Factory. Nowadays, so many bands are copying each other but we've always remained true to our sound," says Dino. And that is what keeps the fans waiting.

Fear Factory was on the 1999 Ozzfest Tour, along with Static-X, Slipknot and many other hardcore bands. Fear Factory has toured all over Canada, the US, and even Europe. The band is becomming more popular by the day, however their success was not overnight. The band have had to work their way to the top. Have Fear Factory become obsolete? Will they have another record with such success as their previous ones? We can only wait and see what Burton has up his sleeve, and you can bet that it will be something worth waiting for.
